donatello

[R]
residential

Donatello is a hillside residence envisioned to be both monumental and intimate. Set on a 2,400 sq. m. plot, the project responds directly to the site’s topography, where the existing slope presented a significant architectural challenge.

The terrain’s morphology shaped the spatial layout, informing a design strategy that embraces the natural gradient while achieving a strong, grounded presence. The material palette includes engineered woods, exposed beams, and polished concrete, elements chosen to evoke a sense of permanence, structure, and refined simplicity.

The design emphasizes the creation of diverse atmospheres, allowing each space to adapt to the way individuals inhabit and experience it. Fluidity and flexibility were prioritized to accommodate varying modes of use across the home.

The most distinctive feature is the garage and man cave, connected across two levels. This spatial relationship not only enhances functionality but also reinforces the project’s layered spatial narrative.
